CineStar Oberhausen – Cinema redefined
Following its modernisation in 2026, CineStar Oberhausen is setting new standards for the cinema experience and ranks among the most modern cinemas in Europe. Contemporary design, innovative technology and exceptional comfort create an atmosphere that makes every visit to the cinema a special experience.
The cinema has nine state-of-the-art auditoriums with a total of 1,403 seats. Each auditorium is equipped with 4K laser projection and features a 7.1 sound system. Auditoriums 1, 3, 7 and 9 are also fitted with the impressive Dolby Atmos sound system. These auditoriums offer guests a three-dimensional sound experience of the highest standard. All auditoriums are fully accessible and ensure a comfortable cinema visit for all guests.
The centrepiece of the cinema is the spectacular IMAX auditorium. The huge IMAX screen in Cinema 5 stretches from wall to wall and from ceiling to floor, and was specially manufactured in Canada for CineStar Oberhausen. The IMAX auditorium features state-of-the-art 4K laser projection and an immersive 12.1 sound system. Guests experience films in a whole new dimension. The IMAX auditorium has 361 seats; all seats are electrically adjustable and feature extra-wide armrests. Two rows are fitted with exclusive recliners, and the back row also features particularly comfortable private suites for an exclusive cinema experience.
Another highlight is the two boutique auditoriums. With their 34 seats, Cinema 2 and Cinema 8 offer a particularly private and exclusive atmosphere. High-quality design, luxurious fittings and comfortable private suite seats make these auditoriums a premium experience for discerning cinema-goers.
Comfort is also the focus in the other screens. In all screens, the spacious 68 cm wide premium seats with extra-wide armrests ensure exceptional seating comfort, and each screen is equipped with electrically adjustable recliners.
The experience begins as soon as you enter the cinema, in the modern Market Place. The Market Place offers guests a wide range of snacks and drinks, which can be individually selected and put together. This innovative concept creates an open, welcoming atmosphere and makes the visit a special experience even before the film begins.
Thanks to state-of-the-art digital projection technology, all auditoriums are also suitable for broadcasting live events.
