Monday 1 June 2026 marks the 6th Austrian Children’s Hospice and Palliative Care Day, and a varied programme awaits you at Westfield Shopping City Süd – one that informs, moves and brings people together.
This day is all about nationwide participatory activities. Together with the Lower Austria Hospice Association, the KI-JU-PALL teams (Children’s and Youth Palliative Care Team of MOKI Lower Austria), the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at Mödling Regional Hospital, and HoKi NÖ – the hospice team for children, adolescents and young adults – we wish to draw attention to children and young people living with serious – often life-shortening – illnesses who are only partially able to manage their daily lives at school and within their families on their own. Young people with serious or chronic illnesses and their families face a wide range of medical, psychosocial and organisational challenges that require a special form of support.
You can look forward to information and advice stands, creative hands-on activities, a wheel of fortune with great prizes, as well as impressive giant soap bubble shows and children’s entertainment. Paint, draw and write to us about your reality regarding the world of children with serious illnesses.
Workshops with school classes will take place in the morning from 9 am to 12 noon. These will include an element from the “Hospice Goes to School” initiative, as well as a creative exploration area offering insights into art therapy. In addition, the Angel’s Torch will be handed over by Kinderburg Mobil, as the German Children’s Life Run is stopping off in Lower Austria on this day.
